With graduations just behind us classes will soon be completed for this school year. With this, and hopefully warmer weather, despite the high gasoline prices, many of us will be traveling. This can be a great opportunity for you to visit another church. United Methodist churches are located thoughout our country, and even outside it. Most United Methodist churches follow a similar worship format and generally use the same hymnal. Of course, we all use the same Bible. Just check a local phone book, look for the cross and flame logo, or check out www.umc.org and click on ‘locate a church.” Some campgrounds even offer worship services. (I worked two summers for an ecumenical leisure ministry while in college.) If you think of it, I would appreciate any bulletins you can bring back. I enjoy reading bulletins from other churches.
I hope all our youth those entering grades six through twelve will watch their e-mail and postal mail as we will be starting weekly meetings during June and begin going on monthly outings. June 26 though 29 we will be hosting a group of youth from Grand Rapids. We will be getting together with them on Thursday evening (the 26th) for fun, fellowship and undoubtedly some food. Be prepared to give suggestions what the youth need to see/do while in Gladstone.
There is still time to register for Camp Michigamme. We have five from Memorial registered right now and I know others are planning on attending. That’s the most children/youth we have had attend in several years. Memorial will pay $50 automatically; let me know if you need more money. Don’t let cost keep your child from attending Camp Michigamme! Camp is a great way to learn more about God while having fun in the outdoors and making new friends.
If you are planning on going to Michigamme Day on June 8 (see elsewhere in this newsletter for details) and want to share a ride please call the office and we will arrange a car pool. This is a great way to see camp and introduce a child to camp. I always leave this day having grown closer to God and knowing others from around the peninsula better. The day is always fun and of course there is good food!
Remember the second service will start at 10 a.m. beginning this Sunday!
See you in worship Sunday!
